The Grandness of God's Work

(Due to the visual additions it may be better to watch this sermon video than to listen to the podcast.)

1. The Grandness of God’s Work in Creation

Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

a. The Beauty (of God’s creation)

b. The Detail (of God's creation)

c. The Smallness (of God’s creation)

d. The Largeness (of God’s creation)

Psalm 8:3-4

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?

Genesis 1:27-28

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Heb 1:3. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.

2. The Grandness of God’s Work in Redemption

Eph 1:4-10

In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—

6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,

9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,

10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

3. The Application in Life and Ministry

a. ____________

1 Cor 3:5-8

5 What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task.

6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.

7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.

8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose…

b. ____________

c. _____________

d. _____________

1 Cor 9:26-27 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.

27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

e. _____________

Phil 3:8, 10

I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.

10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.

Jer 31:34 No longer will they teach their neighbor,

or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’

because they will all know me,

from the least of them to the greatest,”

declares the Lord.

Reflection/Discussion

1. Which of the blessings did you need to hear the most?

2. What changes will you make in your life and ministry knowing that God is doing almost all the work of Creation and Redemption.

3. How has your knowledge of God increased in the last one month? What steps will you take to increase in the knowledge of God.
