1.1 Born into God’s family 3:1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; 5:1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God 5:5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name. Romans 8:15 …The Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be.
1.2 Against the World 3:1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. John 15:18 “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.
2.0 A Christian’s Iniquity – Sin:
2.1 Altered relationship to sin. 3:9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God
2.2 Against God: 3:8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. 3:10 anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God
3.0 A Christian’s Integrity – Subjugation:
3.1 Do – Purify ourselves and practice righteousness 3:3 And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 2 Timothy 2:22 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness I Corinthians 9:27 – but I discipline my body and make it my slave. 3:7 the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;
3.2 See – Becoming a Christian 3:6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
Why did Jesus come?
To take away sins – 1 John 3:5
To destroy the devil’s works 1 John 3:8
To seek and to save those who are lost (Luke 19:10).
So that his sheep might have the abundant life (John 10:10).
To save his people from their sins (Matt. 1:21).
3.3 Know – Fellowship with Him. 3:6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
The Enemy is Wickedly Strong (and strongly wicked)v. 12
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Isaiah 37:36 – Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies!
The Armor is Spiritual v. 13-20
13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

21 But that you also may know about my circumstances, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you.
22 I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know about us, and that he may comfort your hearts.
23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love.
